Also, existing regulations, policies and procedures will apply in all cases.

How long does it take to get my first retirement check?

If we receive a properly completed retirement application by the 10th of the month following the member's last date of employment, the first check will normally be mailed at the end of that month.

When does PMRS mail retirement checks?

Retirement benefits are paid at the end of the month.  Checks are mailed on the next to the last business day of the month. Direct deposit transmissions are made on the last business day of the month by 3:00 P.M.

Will PMRS direct deposit my retirement check to my bank account?

Newly retired members will receive a form with their first check which can be completed and returned to PMRS to start direct deposit or you may request that one be sent to you. Also, anyone receiving a monthly benefit check can start direct deposit at any time. It can take from one to three months for direct deposit to become effective.

What if my retirement check does not arrive?

If your retirement check does not reach you by the 7th of the month, you should contact PMRS.  Direct deposit of your retirement payments will allow you to avoid problems with mail delays.  To receive a direct deposit application, please contact us or download the form from our site.
